
Protective Services
Our primary duties are to conduct searches of all people who enter all buildings and agencies, oversee surveillance systems, gather information, work to preempt crime, and conduct criminal investigations when necessary. We provide outreach and training for other officers or the general public.
Perform a variety of security-related duties, depending on the posts to which they are assigned. Protective Service Officers shall detect and respond to emergencies and secure all entrances and exits that are subject to an emergency if necessary.
Typical duties include
Provide physical armed security
Processing visitors and visitor vehicles by verifying identification,
Enforce property rules and regulations,
Contact agency sponsors or escorts,
Fabricating and issuing visitor passes,
Entering and maintaining data on visitor logs or automated visitor database programs,
Detect and report criminal acts,
Ensuring visitors are presented for appropriate personnel and package screening.
Monitoring security cameras and patrolling property to ensure safety and security
Conducting investigations into reported crimes or suspicious activities
Maintaining order during large public events such as concerts or sporting events by enforcing rules and regulations
Interviewing witnesses and victims of crime to gather information for police reports
Patrolling the grounds of schools or businesses to prevent crime from occurring
Providing security at special events such as concerts, conventions, political rallies, or sporting events
Responding to emergencies such as fires or medical emergencies
Performing security screening procedures such as searching bags or patting down individuals for weapons
Determining appropriate actions to take in response to dangerous situations
Additional duties include

Ports Protective Services
Are responsible for the protection of passengers, personnel and facilities against acts of unlawful interference with civil aviation and marine security.
Protective Services is staffed by enforcement officers and supported by security guards, communications operators and administrative personnel.
In conjunction with the airport’s Fire and Emergency Services, Protective Services are the first responders
to all emergencies on airport property.
Patrol & Response
We provide a high degree of customer service through the provision of safety and security for all persons at the airport, helping to resolve complaints, enforcing regulations, detecting explosives and conducting routine patrols of the airport and other properties. During boating season, Protective Services also conducts marine patrols to ensure designated marine exclusion zones are set around the airport.

Special Security Guard
​
Special security guards are responsible for ensuring the safety of people and property in a variety of settings. They commonly work in retail stores, banks, airports, stadiums, concert venues, etc., where they monitor activity and respond to any incidents that may occur.
Special security guards typically have a very active role in their shifts. They’re constantly monitoring the area they’re assigned to watch for signs of suspicious or criminal activity. This might include watching for criminal activity and shoplifters, observing how customers interact with merchandise or cash registers, or checking for any other behaviour that could be considered dangerous.

Special Detectives and Special Criminal Investigators
Are uniformed or plainclothes investigators who gather facts and collect evidence for criminal cases. Special detectives usually specialize in investigating one type of crime, such as homicide or fraud. Special detectives are typically assigned cases on a rotating basis and work on them until an arrest and trial are completed or until the case is dropped.
Special Fish and Special Game Wardens
Enforce fishing, hunting, and boating laws. They patrol fishing and hunting areas, conduct search and rescue operations, investigate complaints and accidents, and educate the public about laws about the outdoors. Federal fish and game wardens are often referred to as Federal Wildlife Special Officers.
Special Police and Special Sheriff's
Special patrol officers are the most common type of police and detectives and have general law enforcement duties. They wear uniforms that allow the public to easily recognize them as special police officers. They regularly patrol and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls. During patrols, special officers look for signs of criminal activity and may conduct searches and arrest suspected criminals.

Some special police officers work only on a specific type of crime, such as narcotics. Special officers work in special units, such as horseback, motorcycle, canine corps, and special weapons and tactics Task Forces.
